Many residents and staff who tested positive had little or no symptoms. Then others did not survive the infection. People can be infected and contagious with out even knowing it. Please follow the CDC and Health Department guidelines such as no group activities, keep 6 feet apart, use hand sanitizer after touching anything someone else has touched such as money, door handle etc. Don’t touch your face. Wear a mask in public. Even a bandana is better than nothing. And wash your hands vigorously for 20 seconds.
Visiting/Admissions
We are still in lockdown.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
We have a low but sufficient amount of protective gear in the facility. Staff are not going without PPE. All-staff are wearing procedure masks when in the nursing home and assisted living. We are taking measures to extend the life of our PPE supply such as sanitizing goggles according to CDC guidelines.
Food/Flowers/Cards & Letters
While it can be challenging to be in lock down, one of the ways to brighten your loved ones day is to send cards/letters, flowers or even food items they like. All food items must be in a sealed container that we can wipe down with CDC appropriate wipes (no aluminum foil, plastic wrap or cellophane) before being given to the resident. Many local stores will make deliveries as well if that’s easier.
Suites Assisted Living
Today we have no positive cases of the virus in the suites. There are no pending tests outstanding. We continue to monitor residents temp daily and monitor for any signs and symptoms of elevated temps, cough or breathing problems. All employees are screened daily and wear a mask at all times. We continue to self-quarantine with no group dining, no group activities, no visitors. Thank you for being patient. I know this is hard.
We will revisit our ability to take visitors and admissions in 2-3 weeks. We are encouraged the lockdown and other infection control measures we are taking are working. We had 2 residents test positive without it spreading. Theses two residents are doing fine with no symptoms. They are under the same infection control measures as the rest of the Suites residents now.
Nursing Home
We have been able to take several residents off isolation precautions due to their not having any symptoms according to CDC guidelines and recommendation of the Health District. Residents who tested positive and have symptoms are still quarantined to a designated hallway. Staff who work on this unit are scheduled to work only on this unit. We have some new tests outstanding. Getting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and test kits has been really difficult. Thankfully recent focus to provide care givers this PPE access to test kits has improved due to recent Federal help.
All infection control procedures are still in place.
Josie’s Learning Center Childcare
We continue to provide childcare for our employees, families with healthcare workers and first responders. No childcare is being provided in the nursing home. Montessori and Early Education and Advancement Program schools are closed.
