A Family & Community Update 4.14.2020

Nursing Home

Today we are down to one active case in the nursing home.  Waiting on two tests results which should be back tomorrow.  The last ten tests were negative for the virus.  Fourteen residents have recovered. There were five residents who passed away due to the virus, all had underlying health issues. Please remember them and their families in your prayers.  We continue to assess residents for symptoms of the virus.  We continue to serve resident meals in their rooms and have no group activities. Nurses, nursing assistants and housekeepers are dedicated to the Isolation Unit and do not work in other units in the nursing home.

The Suites Assisted Living

There are no active cases in the Suites today. We had two residents test positive without the virus spreading.  These two residents are doing fine with no symptoms.  They are under the same infection control measures as the rest of the Suites residents.  We continue to assess residents for symptoms of the virus.  We continue to serve resident meals in their rooms and have no group activities.

Josie’s Learning Center Childcare

We continue to provide childcare for our employees, families with healthcare workers and first responders.  No childcare is being provided in the nursing home.  Montessori and Early Education and Advancement Program schools are closed.

Visiting/Admissions

We are still in lockdown.  Sorry but still no visitors or new admissions are being allowed.  We do have the ability to Skype.  You may leave a request to Skype with your loved one by calling the receptionist.  Each room has a telephone.  The receptionist can transfer your call.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

We have a low but sufficient amount of protective gear in the facility.  Staff are not going without PPE.  All staff are wearing procedure masks when in the nursing home and assisted living.  We are taking measures to extend the life of our PPE supply such as sanitizing goggles according to CDC guidelines.
